Sun Mountain’s Next Gen Golf Cart
The Pathfinder 4 golf cart features a smaller folded footprint. It takes only two steps to set up. How well does it hold a bag?
First Impressions
This Sun Mountain Pathfinder 4 is a sturdy, well designed four-wheel push cart. We were a little concerned about the size of the wheel width until we read the directions.
It can handle stand bags and cart bags.

The wheels are sturdy enough and the tread is deep enough to get through the rough stuff but not so deep that they dig up the turf as they roll along.

Golf Cart Brake: Hand brake
The brake is a solid performer. You won’t have a problem with controlling the roll on this cart.
Frame Material: Steel
The frame is hollow steel and the joints are welded together with what looks like fillet brazing but we’re not welders, just frame enthusiasts.
With a Telescoping Handle. Even someone over 6 feet tall can feel comfortable pushing this cart.
Straps
Surgical tubing.
This is where the problems arise. Surgical tubing is strong but has a short shelf life. Given that the most complaints about the cart are about the length of the bottom strap, we can see how this strap might be prone to breaking.
Straps on the bottom are a little too small and when used with a staff bag, will often break before a season of use.

Included Accessories:
Accessory console is designed to hold your cell phone, score card, extra balls and tees.
The cart has a mesh basket and a velour lined pouch for your phone.
It doesn’t include much in the way of accessories. You’ll need to purchase a drink holder and an umbrella holder.

What the World Thinks
People like that it’s ready to go right out of the box. The biggest complaint was seating the bag properly on the cart and the short bottom strap. Staff bags are a tight fit. They also tend to rub the wheels, making it more difficult to push and damaging both the wheel and the bag.
Other than those two issues, people felt that it performed like a dream.
Our Opinion
We’re impressed with the Sun Mountain Pathfinder 4. We like the steel frame, the brake and how it rolls.
What we didn’t like is that it seems people aren’t interested in adjusting the adjustable front wheel axle to fit their bag. Whether they’re not reading the instructions or Sun Mountain isn’t really working to ensure people know the front wheel width is adjustable, we don’t know.
If that bottom strap were just a little longer, this would be a hands-down winner.
We recommend the Sun Mountain Pathfinder 4 for everyone looking for a smooth handling golf cart.
